LIGHT PHASE

This only happens in the presence of light.
It takes place on the membrane of the thylakoids. The chlorophyll absorbs the light energy which does two things.
1) splits the water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen gets taken to the Calvin Cycle by NADP molecules (becomes NADPH2).
The oxygen is released as waste, (beneficial for humans).
2) charges up ADP to ATP.
